Mythical Bird Boutique is a curated collection of vintage and retro southwest and Colorado inspired, classic clothing, handmade accessories from upcycled and vintage fabrics, and succulents/cactus babies. My motto is "change into something more you" - supporting every humans capacity for meaningful and beautiful change through the rebirth of bygone things to bring fresh joy now.

Meet Clarice Backus of Mythical Bird LLC

I simply love creating a warm place for folks of every walk of life to browse, muse, find delight, and maybe learn something new. I value inclusive branding and respect for every person who enters my shop. It was sometime in 2024 that I realized I needed to go into business for myself and began the quiet meditation on what that business might be. I worked a seasonal retail position in Manitou Springs Nov-Jan '25 and then began to formulate a plan to launch Mythical Bird Boutique this year. Mythical Bird is also the name of an album of music I recorded with an LA producer in 2022. The theme of the album is, naturally, death and rebirth into a truer version of myself after divorce. It explores, much like my business, the ways we connect with ourselves through the material world and the natural elements to find peace, meaning, and healing in recovery. My shop embodies my ethos of rebirth - using vintage and upcycled fabrics to create something new and useful, ethically sourcing vintage and retro clothing to bring fresh joy and energy to its wearer, and growing baby plants from mothers loving cared for at home. Mythical Bird Boutique is a meaningful full circle moment for me - one that I hope that positively contribute to the spirit and business of Manitou Springs.

Locals and tourists alike flock to our galleries, studios, exhibition space, and classrooms. Our spacious facilities can also accommodate events, conferences and offices. experiences are unlimited - how will you enjoy the MAC?
