In this three session class you will learn how to use the MAC darkroom to develop black and white film, how to print some of the pictures, and some basic image manipulation techniques.

Supplies—printing paper and the chemicals for developing film and paper—are included in the class tuition fee of $150.

Bring your own 35 mm camera or borrow one of ours. If you plan to use your own camera, please verify that it’s in good working condition and has a new battery. Cameraworks at Union and Academy will do a free check of the shutter and light meter.

Important: The prerequisite for Session 1 is to bring two rolls of exposed 35 mm black and white film. Film is available at Cameraworks, or at Mike’s Camera, or at mail order places like B&H. A good starting choice is Ilford FP4+, but there are plenty of other options.

We will start off by developing those two rolls, so obviously you need to show up with them ready to develop! If you have your own camera and are not sure how to load it or use it, we can have a one-on-one tutorial session in advance of the first class session to get you going.
