  • If you are part of the workforce CDBG grant and have a free membership + a red access badge, the grant will pay $80 of this class.
  • This fee includes all supplies

In this 4hr class (spread over a Friday evening and a Saturday morning) you will use walnut* and maple* to make this beautiful box, and at the same time learn how to use the chop saw and table saw. *material and size of the box is dependent on material availability

Who is this class for?

Woodshop Project Class & Bonus Certification is for members who have this level of expertise in the woodshop:

  • Beginners
  • Advanced Beginners

Learning Objective

To be able to:

  • Learn the 'house rules' of the woodshop
  • Cut on the chop saw and table saw 
  • Cut a miter on the table saw and chop saw 
  • Cut a dado on the table saw 
  • Mortise hinges using a chisel and router plane

Learning Outcome

Once certified a member will be able to:

  • use the table saw and chop saw independently 
  • use the woodshop respectfully including cleaning
Membership Types and Access to the Woodshop

Once certified a member will be able to use the woodshop independently depending on membership type:

  • Certified library card members will have access to the woodshop during the hours of 10am-6pm Tuesday to Thursday and 10am-5pm Friday and Saturday
  • Certified members who have red entry badges will have access to the woodshop for 22hrs a days, 7 days a week.
